To all, We are developing a desktop ISDN-Ethernet router with POTS capability. The POTS interface is for use locally only. That is, we allow the user to attach telephones, modems, fax, etc to our box, then digitize the signal and connect to the PSTN through our ISDN interface. The question is the safety classification of the POTS lines coming out of our box. We generate a voltage over SELV limits to ring the attached telephone equipment.
1. Must this voltage have BASIC insulation from the other SELV voltages, or will simple OPERATIONAL insulation suffice? 2. Any experience with European safety agencies in this area? Thanks - Barney
