EN60950: 1995 Amendment 3 has been issued and is effective from 15 May
1996. This is an extensive change that effects flammability (Clause
4.4.5.2), Drop test (clause 4.2.5) has some changes in Clause 6.2.2.2
that caused BABT to reissue Application Note 48 and last but not
least, Clause 6.2.1.5 is aligned with EN41003:1993.
This is just a sample of some of the changes, you need to work with
your Notified Body to understand all of the changes.

Roger,
In one of my past regulatory lives, I can recall that even when EN60950 and
EN41003 were in force, BABT would only recognize BS6301. It took some time
for them to come around to the EN's. So. it would also seem likely that they
would also be slow in recognizing the updated EN60950 with EN41003 included
as clause 6. I would suggest calling your contact person at BABT and ask
them if they recognize the new EN60950. Actually, they must have or should
be preparing for the LVD break-in at the end of the year, which I believe
refers to the new EN60950. Any comments?
No, I have not mapped out the specific differences, but the essential
requirements from EN41003 should be in EN 60950, clause 6.
As far as differences between EN 60950 and UL 1950, I would recommend to
look for the differences between IEC950 and UL1950 since IEC950 is the base
standard of which EN60950 and UL1950 are based. Anyway, your contact at UL
should be able to provide this information to you.
