I checked Switchboard (www.switchboard.com) for companies named
Bowmar Instruments and found:

Bowmar Instrument Corp...8000 Bluffton Rd...Fort Wayne, IN 46809-3018
Phone: (219)747-3121

A phone call to their sales department indicates that they sold the return
loss measurement equipment business to:

Lau Technologies (508/263-8365) in 1992 or 1993.

I called that number and got an automated answering system, but perhaps
you can take it from there. (At least there appears to be a businss still
in existence).

Duane, if you still find you need to measure return loss at discrete frequencies
using complex reference impedances, you might consider our return loss test
method which uses one of our transformers, an external oscillator and a
bypass inductor (if required) to pass DC around the reference network.

You can make the whole fixture for just a few dollars. We generally provide
samples of the transformer and a suitable inductor at no charge to customers,
potential customers or consultants. (that covers just about everbody!)

Subject: Bowmar Return Loss Measuring Test Set

Treg'rs.

I have Bowmar Return Loss Measuring Set, Model 481A. Can anyone give me
an idea where I might obtain a copyof Operators Manual and/or a service
manual for this device? I've tried contacting Bowmar in Acton, Mass, where
it was built, but they are no longer there.

I purchased it a year ago for a low price and it does not look like it was
ever used. I can use it in all modes except with an external complex
impedance and external oscillator. It would be very nice to use it in
these modes to confirm the calculated return loss measurements of the
DAA's I'm designing for various countries.

Thank you in advance.

Regards, Duane
