I would appreciate any guidance anyone can give me regarding BABT 340 and it's
required Dielectric tests.

For years now we have routinely done grounding continuity and hipot tests as
described in 340. Recently, we had an auditor in who questioned the way the
tests were being performed. We currently perform the tests as follows:

        1) an earth continutity test of 25 A as described in No 1 of Table 1.
        2) a test of 2121 vdc Line/Neutral - Ground (No 2)
                              NTP - Ground (No 3)
        3) a test of 4242 vdc Line/Neutral - NTP (No 5)

Our auditor commented the following in a recent fax "The ISDN Line Barrier must
then be tested separately by applying the test voltage to both sides of the
transformers (that which you propose still has barriers in series!)" His
comment refers to the way we test for #2. Basically we take the
Line/Neutral/NTP connections and apply 2121 vdc between them and ground. He
apparently thinks this is not sufficient and requests that we choose another
point directly connected to the other side of ISDN transformer. This would be
difficult to do in a production test. I think his request goes beyond what was
intended for No 3 of Table 1.

I think our current method is correct.
