Subject: CE Mark questions

This job has given me my first direct experience with regulatory
testing. Wow it can really confuse me. I have a few questions about
     CE Mark.

After much help from all of you I've found that EN61010 "Safety
requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and
laboratory use" is the E.N. I should use.

     Question:

Jan. 1, 1997 all of my products with CE Mark (now using just the EMC
directive) must also have the Low Voltage Directive, true?

     Question:

What happens Jan. 1, 1998? Are any new requirements coming?

     Question:

How many of you do your testing in-house (I guess it's kind of like
     doing your own UL1950 testing)?

     Question:

I've boiled it down to a twenty page procedure/checklist that is
"tuned" for our products. What pitfalls was I likely to miss (dumb
     question, I know)?

** All of our products use an external (lump-in-cord) mains
transformer that uses protective ground and is in a hard plastic case
with no vent holes. The transformer has CE Mark. This seems to
really simplify the number of single fault conditions. Now I only
have to worry about our display backlight inverter that makes 90 Vac.
The chassis connects to protective earth even though mains voltage is
     not inside.

     Thanks for your help.
