Inchcape Testing Unit Sold for $585 Million

Inchcape P.L.C. said yesterday that it had sold 
its industrial testing business to Charterhouse 
Development Capital Ltd., a private firm, for 380 
million pounds, or about $585 million.  The sale 
is part of a plan by Inchcape to concentrate on 
its main international trading business which 
deals in such goods as cars, food, liquor and 
clothing.  Inchcape also plans to dispose of its 
Bain Hogg insurance unit.
