Dear Treggers, Can anyone comment on the following aspects concerning caller ID operation outside North America:
1. What are the major markets where caller ID is (or soon will be) offered as a service? 2. Are there any known requirements in the appropriate national technical standards for analog telephone equipment that specifically relate to a product's support for caller ID functions? In particular, do any of the countries require the on-hook voice-band impedance to be within a certain range (equal to the specified AC termination impedance for off-hook operation, or alternatively, a very high on-hook impedance) for the interval during which caller ID information may be transmitted to the subscriber? (For North America, my understanding is that Bellcore requirements in the US once required a 600 ohm AC termination during the caller ID data transmission period, but this requirement was subsequently removed.) 3. I personally do not currently need information about the software aspects of caller ID variants. However, if anyone can summarize these while we're on this subject, this would probably be of service to others in the group.
