Our testing laboratory has a customer who needs a quick turnaround on a T2
(DS2) interface test for JATE, and we discovered that our North American T2
equipment is 110 ohm balanced, using a B6ZS line coding, but Japan uses 75
ohm unbalanced, B8ZS line coding! Does anyone know of any test equipment
than can send & measure jitter on a T2 unbalanced interface?

In my quest to find such test equipment, I have run across a disturbing
fact -- most of the major test equipment manufacturers are abandoning
production of ANY T1/T2/T3 test equipment, because the market is drying up
(their words). Apparently, the major purchasers of such equipment have
been telcos and long distance companies, and nowadays they don't need it
any more because the test capabilities are built into their switches. HP,
Siemens & TTC (Fireberd) have discontinued their production of such
equipment completely. (I'm not sure about W&G at this point.)

This is a problem for a test laboratory, as we _still_ need such equipment,
at least to replace our aging equipment at some point down the road...
