I understand that there may be some analog carrier systems still in use
in some parts of China, but I believe most of their network is digital.

Some of our people who have traveled there have successfully connected
back to our plant in the U.S., but I'm not sure what their max data
rate was.

You might try asking this consultant (he's installed telecom systems there):
