John: The most commonly used sidactor is a 310 volt nominal, which has a tolerance range of 270 to 350 volts. This allows it to avoid turning on during the "type B" ringing in FCC Part 68, which has a peak voltage of about 268 volts. In surface mount, the part number is P3100SA or P3100SB. Both are good parts, but the SB can handle higher surge currents. Joe Randolph Telecom Design Consultant Randolph Telecom, Inc.
