No, the TREG list may technically be a source of automated messages, that
is
not where my trouble is.   What I do object to is people I don't know from
Adam sending me automated responses that they are on vacation or something.
(This is particularly true if they encode this useful information and it
comes as a second message into my "download" file, without identifier
beyond "noname.001, 002", etc., etc.).  As a defense mechanism, I junk,
unread, anything that is called
"noname.00x." and avoid opening up anything from known senders of such
missives.   There are technical solutions for these problems and the
perpetrators of this particular crime are usually unaware that they are a
pain in the butt, and couldn't do anything about it of they wanted.  It is
the people who design these systems that should be impaled on blunt
instruments.
