Is it still necessary to provide DC continuity via T1 CSU's ? Until 1989, in order to provide DC power to T1 CSU's, it was customary to connect the center taps of the Tx and Rx transformers of the CSU. Although the remote powering requirement has been abolished, I was told that T1 access providers may still send DC current for contact "wetting". However, this complicates the surge protection of the CSU.
