Dick:

I recently heard that Switzerland has modified their procedures for equipment
used behind a PBX.

In the past, Switzerland insisted that loop start equipment intended for use
behind a PBX had to be tested to the PSTN requirements if it was "capable of"
being connected to the PSTN. The only way out was to get listed on the PBX
manufacturer's list of approved attachments, as you have described.

I have heard that testing to the PSTN requirements is still required (unless
you use the "approved attachment" method), but now you are allowed to fail
any of the PSTN requirements that would not present a problem when connected
behind a PBX. If you fail these tests, your approval number has the letter
"P" applied as a prefix, indicating the equipment can only be used behind a
PBX.

I have not independently confirmed this story, so it may not be correct. Can
anyone on treg confirm or clarify this story?
