APREL Laboratories has an opening for a new, hands-on team member in the EMC and Wireless Communications area - right now!
APREL Laboratories is a 16-year old research, testing, consulting, and training firm. Our expertise is primarily in telecom, with a strong focus on wireless. Our specialization, beyond approvals, is in EMC, and in acoustics. We also do substantial work in SAR (RF exposure), and are the lab resource for the research work of the Spectrum Sciences Institute. SSI was recently selected by the Canadian Government to develop certification methodologies for SAR. APREL is located in Ottawa, Canada, where the air is fresh, and the violent crime rate almost nil. Ottawa is often called "Silicon Valley North" because of its telecom/high tech strength (over 600 high tech companies make their home here). A minimum 3 years of related experience and a BSEE/BEng are required for this position. Additional professional certifications (P.Eng., NARTE) are desirable. The candidate must have experience in Wireless (radio, cellular, PCS, etc.) and EMC (preferably including radiated and conducted emissions, radiated and conducted susceptibility, EFT, ESD, Surge, etc.), including the relevant testing tools. Familiarity with the relevant standards (regulatory and performance) is desirable. Also needed are skills in the preparation and development of test plans and procedures as well as in mitigation and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will have strong communications and analytical skills, be results-oriented and able to deliver in a timely fashion, and have a track record of working well within a multidisciplinary team. Use of computers for purposes of data and report processing, design of data acquisition functions, etc. is required. A valid driver's license is needed. The candidate need not be bilingual.
