OPENING FOR PRODUCT SAFETY & COMPLIANCE ENGINEER

General Responsibilities:
Bose Corporation sells electrical consumer audio/radio and commercial audio
products into more than 100 countries world-wide. Responsible to confirm
product is in compliance with UL, FCC, CSA, DOC, IEC, CENELEC, CISPR, ETSI,
and other related standards. Determine the applicable standards for
countries and obtain certification approvals. Bose Corporation electrical
products must comply with one or more of the following standards: UL6500,
UL1950, CSA C22.2 #1, CSA C22.2 #950, EN60065, EN60950, EN61000-3-2, FCC
Part 15, CISPR13, CISPR 20 and CISPR 22. Have a familiarity of flammability
requirements which include UL94 and UL746 and apply this to active
electrical and passive products such as speakers. Interface directly with
electrical and mechanical product design and manufacturing groups, plus
safety and regulatory agencies to obtain product certifications. Obtain CB
Scheme certifications for world-wide sales. Support issues related to
product safety, compliant circuit and enclosure design, and component and
material selection. Perform circuit evaluations and safety testing. Devise
test methods where needed and develop written procedures.
Requirements:
BSEE (or 2 - 4 year technical degree with 10 years direct experience). 5 -
7 years in product safety and compliance related experience with product
safety and EMC standards. Hands-on experience in compliance testing and
certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and
problem solving abilities. Computer use skills required.
