Product Safety Engineer Requirements include BSEE preferred, or in lieu of degree significant experience beyond the three year minimum. Must be familiar with the current product safety regulations for domestic and foreign markets (IEC 1010 preferred, IEC 1950), and be able to specify and use equipment to test and design circuits to meet product safety requirements. Must have in-depth knowledge of component selection, I/O cable shielding, PWB layout, and filter design with respect to product safety issues. Other requirements include three years employment performing product safety testing of electronic devices, communicating directly with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and/or Canadian Standards Association (CSA), or other nationally recognized testing laboratories handling similar standards. Must be familiar with safety nomenclature and standard test equipment/fixtures, including those used in high voltage measurement/testing.
