I need de-confusing. Probably has to do with the abuse of language again.

Many have contributed to our stock of knowledge, for which, on behalf of
all
of us, I want to give a big thank you.

Under the EU schemes of things, I understood there to be:

(1) Regulatory Bodies

(2) Approval Authorities

(3) Notified Bodies, Competent Bodies and other things of that ilk.

In many cases, there is a government agency that appears to be the
Approval Authority, and any number of Notified Bodies that have the power
to approve equipment that meets the requirements, but is not "THE"
Approval
authority.

To take the UK as an example, BABT is the approval body and is also a
notified body. BSI is a notified body, but appears not to be the authority
that BABT is.

Is the distinction I make valid, or are all these bodies equal ????
(I am not even, for now, going to ask what powers exactly the BABTs have
that
the BSIs don't have.)

I would be grateful for enlightenment.
