Ian, thanks for that conformation of my suspicions. I needed it.
In the mean time I have another riddle, one of our members informs me that the government body in Groningen in the Netherlands, which at one time would have been the equivalent of BABT, has closed shop and transferred its Notified Body status to Telefication. The question than arises, who did become the Approval Authority in the Netherlands, or do they feel there is no longer a need for an Approval Authority ??? Or, can private sector bodies become Authorities ??? The latter is defacto the case in the US and Canada. The Electrical Safety authorities (in Provinces, in States, in Municipalities) are the Approval Authorities. If you have a "one of" device, they may come and inspect it. However, these "Approval Authorities" have farmed out their approval authority to Accredited/Listed conformity assessment bodies. If the stuff has the mark of one of those bodies on it, it is deemed to have been approved. It would be like BABT closing down and transferring its authority to KTL, or BAPT transferring its authority to CETECOM ???? Long Live Privatization (could I get a slice too??) Vic Would appreciate any help I can get.
