Subject: RE: BSI a Notified Body

Vic

As I understand it, the issue arises from the implementation of the TTE
Directive into UK national law. This defines TTE as telecoms terminal
equipment for which a CTR has been published; if there is no CTR for a
particular terminal type then this is not, as far as the UK is concerned,=

TTE !

Therefore;
1) If there is a CTR, it is TTE and can be approved by any Notified Body
which has been designated in the EU for the TTE Directive (in the UK this=

means BABT and BSI).
2) If there is no CTR, it is not TTE and UK national approval standards =

(NTR or BS) apply and the approval is issued by the UK national approvals=

body, BABT.

Nobody said the approvals business had to make sense !
