Where the product approval leaves off, the National Electric Code picks up. In North America, I have found reasonable resources to answer my NEC questions, albeit, there are several gray areas that continue to be problematic.
Europe, on the other hand, is posing a more difficult endeavor. Are there any consultants out there that are qualified to answer questions on EU electric codes, especially concerning power limited, class 2 and class 3 circuits? For example, the NEC of the U.S. allows circuits to be classified as class 2. This allows relaxed installation wiring requirements, as compared to class 1 or branch circuit wiring. Does Europe have this same, or a similar class 2 designation? Are the electrical codes of the EU nations scheduled to be harmonized, or has that concept been abandoned? I am interested in hearing from those of you who are knowledgeable on this subject. Sensormatic James Goedderz [email protected]
