Thanks Volkar for explaining it once again. A lot of people do not understand the difference between a regulatory requirement, which is a set of requirements that must be met to ensure that the device does not cause any harm, and a design specification, which tries to ensure that the thing will actually work. If it weren't for the "social" requirements added to North American regulatory requirements, you could get a piece of wood approved. It won't cause any harm to the network or anyone else and therefore meets the "essential" requirements. Unfortunately, the piece of wood can not meet the hearing impaired requirements that were later added. Ciao, Vic
