Hi everybody,

I had looked for an IC as a soft modem codec with UART connection. I
want to use ALIS-D of siemens but

ALIS has two serial connections

A
Control Interface with 4 pins
DCLK: data clock which can be 1 khz to 1024 khz
DIN: Data input
DOUT: Data output
CS: Chip select for register write or read

data is 8 bit serial no parity no start or stop bit
this channel is used to configure internal registers of alis

B
Data Interface with 4 pins for 16 bit serial codec input and output data

DAT_CLK :dat clock,128 khz to 1024 khz
FSC :Frame syncronization clock, 8khz which alerts start of a new 16 bit
sampled data transfer.
DAT_IN :Transmit Data input
DAT_OUT :Receive Data output

Data is 16 bit no parity no start or stop bit.
ALIS accepts 16 bit Transmit data input syncronized with FSC which
activated every 125 Us since 8 Khz clock.

here I faced up with two (8 bit and 16 bit) synchronous interfaces but I
want to use a standart UART port for connection.

Do you know any chips for following tasks

(A) 16 bit synchronous to asynchronous convertor where asynchronous
interface is from UART

(B) 8 bit synchronous to asynchronous convertor where asynchronous
interface is from UART

Or is there any parallel interface solutions for codec connections which
is attached to data and address bus of CPU. Do you know any IC for this
purpose?

Best regards,
