> As I remember ACTS has no direct involvement in the standards making

Mea Maxima Culpa.

I picked up a CD at a Trade Exhibition in Vancouver in February 1997,
called "acts96" and ever since I have been mixing things up. (Us older
people are allowed to do that).

ACTS stands for Advanced Communications Technologies & Services, the
European Commission's programme of research development and demonstration
of Advanced Communications Technologies and Services. (Canada has a
similar programme, known as CANARIE, with much less money). An interesting
CD.

ACTE on the other hand stands for Approvals Committee for Terminal
Equipment, which, if I understand what the new R&TTE Directive is saying,
is slated to be replaced by TCAM (Telecommunications Conformity Assessment
and Market Surveillance Committee). (Note: At least I hope that they are
not proposing an exta committee).

Sorry about that boys and girls.
