Further clarifications by Roger Magnussen and Nick Evans

OK, so that means that CTR21 is effective 21 days after publication in the
OJ, NOT 20 days after the Member States were notified. Nobody knows when
the OJ publication will take place, but most believe that will be sometimes
in September.

Ergo, sometime in October, the member states won't have any choice but
accept equipment that bears the CE marking accompanied by a Notified Body
number, provided that equipment meets the national requirements for
anything not covered under CTR21. I believe that what is meant here is the
ETSI Document published as TBR21, dated January 1998.

For all the practical reasons Nick Evans gave, you may well be able to do
business earlier than that under the CTR21 banner.

It all remains a tricky situation if you add attractive and useful features
to the equipment (such as voice capability) and you don't meet the national
requirements on such features.

This is a consultants dream world.
