Hi Ron, Although Canadian law specifically states that you can not offer for sale an unapproved electrical product (not even display one at a trade show), I was surprised that I haven't been able to locate something here in the U.S. that specifically calls out a legal requirement other than that for electrical installations and it's electrical network attachments and how items are connected to the electrical network (NEC). When it comes to products that will be used in the workplace OSHA has requirements for approvals on the individual products located in the same area as labor whether used directly or indirectly. As far as consumer products go, I haven't found a thing that (except proprietary requests) that indicate mandatory NRTL approvals.
I would be really interested in knowing if someone has anything to the contrary as well. Garry Hojan Market Development Manager TUV Telecom Services, Inc Pleasanton, CA Tel: 925-734-8100 Ext 128 Mobile: 650-465-8383
