Hi Pierre-Marie

long time no speak,

Your information is correct the BTA of the MII will ask you for
the range of serial numbers which are to be covered under the
type approval. The reason for this is that they do perform continuing
compliance testing on samples that they will request from you. For
this they select a serial number form the range that you have given
them and ask for you to send that sample to Beijing for testing.

Hope that is of some help

Regards

Shaun

Subject: China approval process and serial number

>Hello all,
>as you may know some drastic changes have been implemented in the Telecom
>approval in China.
>One of the route is a so called "Type Approval" which is now applicable for
>the Product Type/Model,
>independant of the serial number.
>However ,once the "Type Approval" has been granted by MII,
>the information we have is that MII is still requiring the range of serial
>number for the Labels to be assigned on the product.
>Has anybody any similar experience with the New approval scheme in China
>starting early 99 ?
>thanks for you help
