Hello Pierre-Marie, Please have a look at the India section on www.typeapproval.com.
In brief, there are two categories of approval: type approval and interface approval. Equipment to be sold to the DoT must gain type approval. If it is only to be sold to the general public, only interface approval is required from TEC. The test specs and the approval procedures are different. Type approval carries much more rigorous local presence and warranty requirements. Many mfrs. opt only for interface approval, but if you are planning to sell to DoT and get type approval, it is often a good idea to first get interface approval. This can make the type approval process go much more smoothly. Please let me know if you've got more questions. -Fred At 09:47 AM 6/18/99 , Pierre-Marie Andre wrote: >Hi tregers, >Regarding the approval of telecom products in India I have heard that >according to the type of >customers, the need for a Type Approval may not be requested. >The Government tenders would only be required to be approved. >Any comments to confirm or not the above >thanks for your help >Pierre-Marie >Shiva/Intel Senior Worlwide Approval Engineer >tel : 33 4 92 96 80 42 fax : 33 4 92 96 80 01 > -- Fred Borda Director Marketing & Business Development Compliance International http://www.typeapproval.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The experts in telecommunications equipment type approval across the Asia-Pacific region ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4713 First Street, Suite 280 Pleasanton, California 94566-7362 USA Tel +1.925.417.5571 (direct) Fax +1.925.417.5574 Mobile +1.650.740.5762 [email protected]
