there is nothing in the R&TTE Directive requiring that any authority, beyond a private sector notified body, where required, be involved. What we are dealing with is the "downloading" of regulatory costs on to the private sector. YOU draw up a declaration of conformity YOU affix the CE marking YOU keep the files YOU will get fined into non-existence if you get caught doing it wrong. That is the way entrepreneurs like it.
