Dear Roeland,

Two wires are presented in an exchange line in Hong Kong,
these are
labeled A and B or Tip and Ring respectively. Some CPE are
designed to use a third line and this line is shunted to the ring
wire via a 1.8 U farad capacitor at the master line socket .
HKTA Standard 2011 Issue 01 Clause 3.6 describes the connection
arrangement.

HKTA standards can be downloaded from the OFTA website at

Hi Treg,

In the Hong Kong HKTA2003 specs in chapter 2.5 and 4.2 they are speaking about
shunt-wire -> does that mean they have tree wires in the connector: A-wire,
B-wire and the shunt-wire?

Can somebody give some more explanation?

Thanks in advance Roeland
