Hi Treg and Mr Kim Boll Jensen Many countries will require approval for these connections either as an interface for X.25 or as a Digital Leased Line service interface. Some countries however provide these services by analogue leased line modem and you connect at the modem data port which looks like a DCE.
For Europe, I would suggest looking at CTR / TBR 1 and 2, For Japan look at the JATE digital book (I can't remember blue or green?) but don't confuse the X.21 (V10 or 11) with their special digital service which is similar to V.11 but the characteristics are changed. For the rest of the world I am afraid you will have to seek more help or send out some questionnaires to the various approval bodies. In the case of countries providing these services by modem, type approval is often not required. In the USA and Canada take care to ensure which type of V.35 system you are designing. All V.35 interfaces have V.28 control lines but the Hybrid version with V.28 and V.11 circuits is often used instead of the very low voltage (+ - 0.55v balanced) original V.35 signal lines. You may require two versions for global markets. (Study the V.35 changes made at red and blue book issue). Hope this gives you a starting point and helps in providing some questions for you to raise with other bodies. Which countries requires approval of V.31 / X.21 ? Where and how can I get these approvals/test made ? Best regards, Mr. Kim Boll Jensen i-data, Denmark
