Thanks for the reco's re: Butler. I'd try that on her phone but for two things. First, Butler seems to be associated with a host of stability issues, and she would not tolerate having to futz with her phone one bit. The other is that all she needs is the alert repeater functionality...all the other stuff that Butler does would be just unused overhead.
I think we'll try Mother! for a while and see if that suffices (or if it nags her too much to register before we're done evaluating it).
