An update on sending Palm Treo 700p Voice Memo files to someone via
email. What you say in your email does not work for me. I have the
latest version of Quicktime installed from Apple. When I sent myself
the file test.qcp, and tried to open it, here's what happened:

1. Windows identified the file as one for which it does not have a
valid program association. I told it to use QuickTime to open it.
2. Quicktime bugged me as it always does by offering first to allow
me to buy QuickTime Pro. I don't believe there's a NO FOREVER button.
3. Quicktime came back with an error message "Couldn't open the
file "test.qcp" because it is not a file that Quick Time understands."
The only option is OK.

That's where I am. Did you do something else to get QuickTime to open
these files?

Cheers,

Don

emailing app

Interesting; I'll try that. I can't say I understand why, in a world
where MP3 and WAV formats are prevalent, they would choose a format that
would required QuickTime to be installed. I'm not a big fan of
QuickTime in general. I find its user interface deficient and also find
that it locks up and has other problems far more frequently than Windows
Media Player or other Windows-based tools (even Real Player...).

In any case, the number of steps required to email a voce recording from
the native recorder is substantially greater than the number of steps
required with this tool. If your model is to do voice recordings and
keep most of them, mailing only an occasional few, the native recorder
would be sufficient. If your model is to send all voice recordings to
yourself or others, this new product would be superior in terms of the
user interface and the number of steps required to complete the task.

Cheers,

Don

The recordings can be played back on any computer that has Apple's free
QuickTime installed.
