This turned out to be a false lead. I have now gone back to using Agendus Mail
Standard Edition SMS module, which has never caused a lockup. Anyone
interested in this third-party app should consider the following things:

1. When you install it, you are offered the choice to install its Mail client,
its SMS client, or both. I choose to install only its SMS client as I use
Snappermail for email.

2. Version 5.25 is the first version that allows you to edit your Quick Reply
List. However that version has a nasty known bug you can work around. If,
when viewing a message, you tap on the the Forward or the Reply icon at the
bottom of the screen, you will reset your device. At least that happens on my
700p. The Delete icon works fine. The workaround for this is to rely on the
dropdown menu for Reply and Forward when viewing a message, or else Tap N
Hold on the message in the message list and choose Reply or Forward from
there.

3. Version 5.24 doesn't suffer the 5.25 bug, but 5.24 doesn't let you edit
your Quick Reply List.

4. Threading (Chat) is not provided.
