Interesting approach, but kinda high maintenance if anything changes.
I have owned just about every database program for the Palm that has ever existed (JFile, Handibase, Mobiwhatever, Listpro, etc. etc.) - yes, I spend too much money on these things - and SmartListToGo (nee ThinkDB) is the one I've returned to time and again. It just works so much better, is so much more flexible and powerful than the rest (unless you buy that really expensive one whose name I can never remember; did I mention it's really expensive - too much even for me). SmartListToGo would still require opening the application and navigating to the relevant database. Another option is the infinitely flexible HandiShopper. Side note: isn't it amazing for you to have Memoware as an entity of legend in a space like this? Pretty cool! Seems like there should be a "History of Memoware" somewhere on the site. It's not so much the speed of D2G opening the file as it is starting D2G, browsing to the file, selecting the file and opening it -- it's all just rather slow and cumbersome on her 650. > But not read them... IMO, the screen on the Treo is just too +small+ to > make use of most PDF files. Oh, I dunno...I've found PalmPDF to render some PDF files quite usably on a 320x320 screen. Now a 160x160 is right out, but high-res isn't too shabby. Would I want to read a complete article that way? No way, but for accessing a table it mightn't be too bad. However, I just completed a proof-of-concept. I took several of her tables and converted them into tall, skinny tables less than 320 pixels wide. I then made B&W GIF files of them from screen caps and loaded those GIF files into /DCIM/Medical with descriptive names. Using the built-in Pics&Videos app on her 650, the GIF files all come in nice and crisp and are easily scrolled up and down with a finger. Plus, switching among tables is easy -- just D-pad Left and Right to move to the next/previous table. This may not work for everything, but after converting 5 tables, it's working pretty nicely so far. And I'm surprised...I'd never though Pics&Videos to be good for much anything. :-) The only downside I can think of with this approach is lack of searchability, but then she had Global Search turned off in D2G, so it's not really a con in her situation. Any other suggestions are still more than welcome, though. __._,_._ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
