I generally keep it closed and open it to answer or make a call, unless
I happen to have it on my ear already. So yes, that works. I had an
HS-810 previously and it was much less satisfactory in this and other
ways.

Just so we have the terminology of Bluetooth straight: Pairing is
something that is done once to establish the relationship between
headset and phone. What you're asking about is Connecting, and the h700
in my experience takes about 2 seconds to Connect judging by when the
little icon changes on the Treo from the Bluetooth symbol to the headset
symbol.

The boom flip for on/off is a HUGE plus for me (user interface is a big
deal to me, as those of you who've read my rants against one picky but
terribly important part of Windows Mobile by now know), as is the
battery life, which is amazing. The sound quality is no worse and no
better than any other Bluetooth headset I've owned, and I've owned about
8 different ones at this point including Motorola, Sony, Plantronics,
Treo (made by Plantronics), Samsung, Jabra and Jawbone. I can't
remember the models of all of those, but they're all within the last 3
years and they're all GONE (or being sold on Craig's List) except the
H700.

Cheers,

Don

How fast does it pair up when you turn it on? IOW, when the phone
rings, can you open the boom on the headset and it'll immediately
connect and take the call?

I had, briefly, a Moto flip-boom headset, I don't recall which model. I
couldn't bring it back to the store fast enough because in order to be
able to answer the call with it, the boom had to be open (and thus the
headset on) +before+ the phone rang. And the flip on the boom was a
joke, it would not survive any lateral force, as it would be subjected
to in a pocket even if closed. And it didn't have enough volume.

Check with Motorola, make sure it's a real one and not a counterfeit.
