I just remember paying $500 for a 1GB internal hardrive about 14 years ago and thinking I was so cutting edge. I figure projecting this sort of thing into the future means we'll have thumb drives that hold 10 Terabytes of data and cost $20 in 5 or 10 years, maybe less. At some point, though, memory is just going to be so cheap that it won't be counted. You'll have some locally and some in various other places (for backup and redundancy), and it just won't matter how much you store. After all, if a 100 exabyte drive costs $99 and it would take the average person 10 years to fill it, even storing a few hours of uncompressed HD video per day... :-) Levi Levi Wallach Blog: twelveblackcodemonkeys.com <http://twelveblackcodemonkeys.blog-city.com/> DVD Review Site: dvdmon.com <http://www.dvdmon.com/> Pictures at: http://wallachexpressions.smugmug.com/Levi <http://wallachexpressions.smugmug.com/Levi>

They're almost that cheap now!! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208088 Even the Kingston Class 4 one is only $106: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134482 And their Class 6 one is only a $4 more than that! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134483 Now, that's not as cheap as the prices we're talking about for 2gb and 4gb, but WOW, it's still less than I paid for a 1gb Lexar card just 2.5 years ago, and way less than I paid for a 2gb card just a little over a year ago! That's why this stuff is so much fun! Look out iPod!! I imagine if we just wait another 6-12 months, 8GB cards will be $50 or something! Amazing what a little time will do!
