One of the main reasons PalmOS is still so popular is the huge range of freeware available - more than any other PDA platform. If you think of an application, you can probably find something free to do it. Ok some of the stuff is a bit ropey and basic, or designed for monochrome Palms of yesteryear, but there are some real gems in there. E.g. KSDatebook/KSTodo, pFuel, PilotDB etc. In fact, some of the free stuff is better supported than the commercial equivalents!
Admittedly, freewarepalm.com has become a pain to use of late because of all the ads and pop-ups. Try http://www.freeware-palm.com as an alternative.
