OK, cool. Does it still show the little picture of the bomb? I was always amused by that. iBomb, now, I suppose.
<<<Don now jumps off into his fantasy world:>>> Perhaps Palm is headed in the direction of real-time Hotsync as opposed to the batch Hotsync that has always been there. Lack of stability notwithstanding, I always preferred the Activesync continuous sync mechanism to the batch mechanism that Hotsync is. Of course, Activesync can do that since it only (or mostly) sync's with Outlook, but I bet Palm could release PalmSync, a new always-up-to-date sync mechanism that continuously syncs with the Palm Desktop and Outlook. That would be a nice enhancement, as long, of course, as it isn't as unstable as Activesync sometimes is!! OK, so we have: **Treo IX** running **PalmIX** - Linux-based but with improved look and feel in the standard PIM apps; 256mb memory, 2400mAh battery, 802.11g wifi, sliding front to alternate between 320x320 or 320x480 screen while keeping the keyboard on the outside; full font support for Truetype fonts; OS-level management of applications on SD cards up to 64gb; universal mini-USB power/sync connector. **PalmAnyNet** multi-carrier cellular radio that can do 4-band GSM, Sprint and Verizon CDMA; EVDO and HSPDA; **PalmMail** - full built-in support for POP3, IMAP, Exchange, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail. Exchange push support includes multiple folders and sync of email, contacts, calendar, tasks and memos. **PalmSync** - real-time sync of all PalmIX apps by USB, Bluetooth of over the air via the cellular carrier. **PalmGPS** - built-in GPS receiver with road maps of North America standard. All for under $5,000!!!! I don't ask for much, do I??? Cheers, Don p.s. And YES, unlimited categories, multiple categories per item, clipboard only limited by available memory, etc. etc. All the things that I've complained about since 1996!!! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of sddawson Sent: Monday, April 30, 2007 12:00 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Treo] Re: Different USB behaviour on later Treos causing me kernel panic problems? Thanks, Don. I think the architectural change might have something to do with the fact that pretty much the same platform is used for their Windows Mobile devices, which DO need a permanent USB connection for use by Activesync. But I think it's messy that it works this way for the Palmos devices. Of course, the error that is displayed when you get a kernel panic doesn't actually call it that. It just says your beloved Mac has suffered a nasty error and needs to be restarted - all in a small subset of the world's languages. But no matter which way you cut it, it's a very unfriendly thing - more like iCrashed! Yahoo! Groups Links
