Colin, there is no such thing as an unlocked 700P. 700P is by definition a
CDMA phone and CDMA phones are specific to the carrier - they can't be unlocked
like a GSM phone can. So a Verizon 700P will always be a Verizon 700P.

When I last went home to good ole Blighty I used my 700p as a PDA and took
my T-Moble RAZR to use as a phone.

The RAZR is normally a modem for my survey GPS equipment (with a data only
sim), popped in a voice and it worked well.

Ideally I'd love an unlocked 700p but I am pretty much stuck with Verizion
for coverage where I need voice and will have to go with a Verizion CDMA
modem for my data needs.

You can only use it as a pda/mp3/camera/gps...IOW, you can't use it as a
phone. There are no CDMA carriers in Europe.
