Re: Syncing Treo 680 with Mac OS 10.X? Thanks to Al and sddawson for your advice. My current plan is to setup the Mac (that I will buy) with a Palm Desktop and then see that I'm getting good syncs, etc. Then, I may experiment with the three Mac PIMs (iCal, Address Book and Tasks) if I decide that I want the Mac PIMs integration with Mac's apps (ie, Mail, .Mac, etc.), which seems to be the primary reason to switch.
If I do sync with the Mac PIMs, what do I do about my memos, which I understand is not supported by Mac? Regardless, DateBk6 on my Treo 680 will operate as it currently does. Most importantly, if I understood everyone correctly, each app that I currently have on my Treo 680 should sync up with the Mac Palm Desktop using Palm HotSync Manager whether or not it has a conduit (on the HotSync Custom list) unless it is dependent upon a desktop component (ie, Mobipocket, which uses the desktop component Mobipocket Reader to get new news from the web each day, Adobe Reader, BackupBuddy,DocsToGo and eReader). In other words, the only thing that matters is the presence of a desktop component except for three special cases: Avantgo, WorldMate and ZagatToGo. They all have conduits but I do not have desktop components (as I understand the term) for any of them. I will address them below I know that there is no Mac issue with Adobe Reader, BackupBuddy, DocsToGo and eReader. So Mobipocket is the only other app for which I have a desktop component and that has no Mac desktop component for news retrieval. The following apps have conduits but do not have desktop components: 1. Avantgo (if Missing Sync is the only way to do this, I have no idea how that can be done and still use Palm's HotSync Manager to sync everything else). I have some concern about this when I lose MobiReader, I will have no daily news updates. Avantgo supplies the same benefit, leaving me with zero. I may have to find a third news app that works with my Treo 680 and Mac. 2. EasyUpdate (United Airlines) 3. Maltin Movie Guide 4. Vindigo 5. WorldMate (can download directly to Treo) 6. ZagatToGo (here I manually drag-and-drop the metro updates on to thePalm QuickInstall logo). Therefore, except for Avantgo, I need have no concern about these. One last thing: as stated earlier, I threw away my Treo 680 Palm Desktop for Mac disc. It was suggested that I could download this if I wanted to. Isn't it better to do the install from a disc (that I could buy) rather that from a download? How does that sound? Have I got it right? Any other suggestions? >
