I went through several about a year ago, so I can't speak to some of the
specific of the new crop -- extra features, etc.
The Jabra BT250 had terrific sound. I wear glasses and the Jabra
hooked over my ear and I have some pictures where the thing shouldn't be
but it is because I'd forgotten it was there. Unfortunately, the way the
mic hooks low and forward, it was constantly being snagged by my vest
and jacket collars.
The Motorola 850 and those of similar design: no volume. I'm a
little more than a little hard of hearing, but Kaplan's right -- unless
the room was dead quiet, I was better off using the speakerphone.
There are a couple that vibrate. The Jabra 250 I think is one. But
the vibrate is in addition to the ring tone, so if your idea is to not
have people next to you hear the fone you're ignoring. it's not much
good. Jabra said the vibrate was so if you put it in your pocket ...
Caller ID -- the idea makes no sense, and doesn't work with the 650
or 680. Same for Voice call and redial -- 650 and 680 can't use them.
I finally settled on a Cardo Scala 500. Plenty of volume. The
speaker nub sticks not quite in the ear canal, which directs the sound.
(order the "optional" rubber ear cushions if they don't come with the
unit. They're worth having.)
And I've heard the Jawbone is pretty good. It's got a couple of
those useless features (the ones that don't work on 650/680) but it's
rumored to be a really nice sounding device. And it looks kind of spacey.
