Generally, all the manufacturers recommend a few deep discharge/recharge cycles
to condition the battery.
I heard some gripes about the life of the 2400 for the Treo 680, and I'm
not experiencing that. On the other hand, that's why I listed my uses -- so
other users could compare. For instance, when you set up autosync on Versamail,
you get a warning that rechecking email too often will shorten battery life.
My experience is that's not a big problem -- but long conversations one the
phone, particularly in a poor-signal area, can suck the stuffings out of the
battery,
Other considerations are what else you have running. Anything that has to
keep track of time is using battery even when you have the thing turned "off."
In poor signal areas, the phone puts out more effort trying to keep track of
its network, and keeping the network of its existence (so when, for instance,
you're in California and someone dials your Pennsylvania-based number.
Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe some other users have
some other ideas.
