As I understand things, this functionality (Exchange Activesync) is a standard part of Exchange Server 2003, as is Outlook Web Access, the part of the program that gives an Outlook-like view of Exchange data in a web browser window. I'm sure that these functions can be turned on or off, and I'm sure that they have to be configured to some extent (for security purposes, if nothing else). I have not done this configuration since the Exchange service I use is hosted by 1and1 Internet and the functionality is configured for me by them. Both are "standard" expected functions of Exchange 2003 server.
I did install the EAS update to the 700p and it worked without incident. It's standard on the 755p. Push email (and calendar and contacts) is really quite useful! Have you personally installed this EAS Update? Does my IT staff have to install anything on the Exchange Server computer, or is it just something I install on the palm? Do I have to use VersaMail to use this Direct Push feature? I'm intrigued by the possibility of having my company mail on my Treo....
