Isn't BT the same no matter which type of carrier your phone uses? Well. yes and no. Everything is the same but it isn't J The problem comes at the Hands-Free Profile, which is the "application" in your headset (Hands-Free Unit) that is talking to its companion in your phone (Audio Gateway). The Hands-Free Profile defines how the two devices are to communicate and what they are supposed to say to each other. The latter - what they are supposed to say to each other - is where the difference occurs. Quite a number of the commands and responses in the Hands-Free Profile are not network specific. There are some commands and responses however that work better in GSM than CDMA, and others that work better in CDMA than GSM. In addition, there are a couple of commands that really cannot be used unless you are using a Japanese mobile phone network. The issue is network functionality: GSM and CDMA just don't work the same. Because of this, you have variations in the way that some Bluetooth Hands-Free Units (headsets, car kits, etc) behave when used on different networks. I know of one major headset manufacturers who has a small office in the US just so they can test their devices with CDMA phones.
