Well, it *is* wider than the 4:3 image typical of SD TV and is a
similar aspect ratio to most of today's "widescreen" LCDs for desktop
PC use.  And, of course, it's *much* wider than the Treo's square
screen.  But no, it's not 16:9.

I expect GPS will be an AT&T service since triangulation via cell
towers is becoming increasingly possible.  Shouldn't require new
hardware on any smartphone available today. Will it be as accurate as
a dedicated (true) GPS receiver?  No, but it'll be good enough for
most navigation needs.
