Instead of calling a provider every day to get the account "straightened out" before going on a trip, just send them $100 (or whatever it usually is) for the next month's statement amount. Mark your check clearly for what it is. You might even mark the check "Paid in Full." Better yet, get all your service providers set up as Bill Payees online with your bank. You can pay them from Australia; the internet is quite functional from there.
