Blackberries are in their own little world. I suspect they'd be, under current
AT&T definitions, PDAs, but their plans, as I understand them, are specific to
Blackbarry rather than to either PDA or Smartphone.
Interestingly, when I check the AT&T web site, the clearly list Treo as a
Smartphone, but when I look for Blackberry, it's not so clear; they're
characterized as neither and both. So I guess I'll stop at the store later on
and ask.
Just a toss-in, but there no longer are non-Smartphones, using the
definitions those of us who grew up along with cell phone technology. There was
a time when Smartphone was something new, that had an appointment book and a
telephone book with lots more than just phone numbers, and a host of other
"smart" features.
Now that virtually all cell phones are "smart," it seems logical the
industry marketers should have to come up with some some way of reclassifying
them. Thing is, the Smartphone/PDA split isn't very accurate, either.
