I would not call myself a guru, but I usually manage to dig myself out
of RTFM-related problems without excessive drama.
My Linux experience has been flawless with Ubuntu, save for only three
things: Visio and MS Project and Palm.
For my Treo 650 I've tried synching with Evolution, Kpilot and jpilot.
All have had good things and some very bad things, from the fact that
none of them support the Treo's extended fields in Contacts to
Evolution's using its parser to move words to "Middle Name" and
destroying data in the process and Kpilot not supporting latin accents
out of the box.
I would be glad -nay, ecstatic- to discuss my experiences and see if we
can all come up with a better solution than the one I was forced to
settle with: running Palm Desktop on Vista (another whole new set of
headaches) running on a VMware virtual machine.
I have all sorts of dreams, hopes and thoughts regarding
Thunderbird/Lightning, the new Palm Linux and HotSync being as easy as
it was when my pilot 5000 was the coolest thing on the planet.
Cheers,
Eugenio
