I think those of us on EVDO Treos might forget what it used to be like! A reminder just came to me. Two days ago I was working at a client location. This client has DSL and I noticed, as I downloaded a piece of software, that I was seeing about 25KBPS download speed. Turns out that's the fastest DSL speed available at this location. As I type this I'm downloading an 8mb file to my laptop from Nullsoft's web site, my laptop connected to the internet through my Treo 755p. The file downloaded at 36.1KBPS. 6mb file took about two and a half minutes. Sure, I'd like it to be 10x that fast, but hey, I'm downloading a file to my laptop which is Bluetooth connected to my phone! Remember payphones? Remember 300 baud modems and how fast 56kbps modems seemed? If my math is right, even the 36.1KBPS speed is pretty anemic for EVDO, since I think it equates to about 290kbps download speed.
