Now that 1&1 has stabilized things, I'm reasonably happy with them.
Certainly for the price they're a good deal. Their technical support is
pretty useless. Their Exchange administrators are knowledgeable and
helpful, but you have to go through Mr./Ms. Useless to get to them.

I tried Sherweb, but it didn't work with my 755p (Versamail) and they
didn't give me warm fuzzies that they would ever make it so. Not sure
what the problem was, but I discontinued them after trying for a day or
so. I also tried IceWeb and found them unacceptable. Back to 1&1.
Now that they're relatively stable (I think they've just completed some
or all of a migration from Exchange 2003 to 2007 - not a completely
smooth ride), I'm OK with them.

Cheers,
Don

Looking for a mail depository I can access with PC, phone or web,
preferably
with mail filter on the server and a place to access/back up files.

I know I can do this with various free online sites but I want some
degree
of good security and be able to hit it from any PC/and internet
provider.

So far I have stayed with my crappy DSL because changing e-mail
addresses is
a pain that I only want to go through one more time.

Junk mail and folder filtering would be good for web access and phone
access
then download the whole shooting match to Outlook when I so choose.

Apart from that anything else that would be useful for keeping my biz
life
flowing would be good.

Reliability is really important.

Thanks,

-colin

Colin, did you have a specific question? Both Don and I have experience
with
1&1. I recently switched to Sherweb because of some negative
experiences...

If someone has time, either on or off list I am thinking about hosted
Exchange say at 1&1.

Having my primary mail at SBCGLOBAL isn't cutting it. They were down a
couple of hours this afternoon and it seems to be a recurring issue.

Thanks,

-colin
